A friend gave me a tiny banana tree at the beginning of summer and look at it now-it has tripled in size. I hope to give it a permanent home somewhere in my yard soon. I'm supposed to cut it back this winter, so I'll probably plant it in the spring. Each new leaf is about 18 inches long. Actually each new leaf is larger than the one before. It is fascinating to me. My friend tells me that he has grown a few bananas on his. That's what I'm counting on!

I love it...and man would that be so funny to go pick one off the tree and eat it.
I hope you do get bananas. My banana tree did not fare so well, but just a mile down the road my daughter and her husband have huge banana trees they wintered over, here in the Pacific Northwest.
So maybe next year you'll be posting banana cream pie recipes using your own bananas!
I would love to pick my own bananas off of my tree, and I would definitely make a real banana cream pie! Or have y'all ever had homemade banana ice cream?
