Miniature Crop

This year, I had a crop of miniature red bell peppers. No, I had a miniature crop of red bell peppers. Actually, this is the only one and my mother grew it. I tried to grow them last year but the drought was in full swing and everyting in the garden died. I gave my mom some seeds and she gave it a try. The plant produced a few peppers and she ate them while they were still green. She let this little one turn red, and then she sent it to me, during movie night at church. There were just a few comments made about it!  It was very delicious by the way.

Little Dresses for Africa

Our church group met and made 45 dresses and shorts to send to orphans in Africa http://www.littledressesforafrica.org/blog/ . I am so privileged to work with these ladies and this has been our best year in a long time for working on mission projects. I thank God for these opportunities to have fun and fellowship with a purpose. We have something in mind for our next project and I am looking forward to helping fulfill a need.

Crucial info!

I realized the bras need to be received by the organization before August 2. You can mail directly to them. E-mail me for the information if you want to participate. They really don't take that long to make. I'm sorry for the short notice and next year I'll be more organized.

Art Bra Update

Does anyone want to make an art bra and mail it to me for the fundraiser? If you do, then e-mail me kgsoutherncomfort@gmail.com and I'll give you the guidelines. All the bras received get to be in the calendar and the auction. It would be special to have some bras from across the country, signed by the designer to display. I'll take photographs for you and tell about the event, I'm sure I'll even blog about it. Let me know!

Art Bras

A group of church women met last night to listen to guest speaker, Carolyn Jackson, informing us about her experience with breast cancer. She described her journey through treatment and recovery, then we all made art bras to auction off at her Breast Cancer Research Fundraiser. This is being done all over the country and it is so fun to do as a group. I recommend looking into this project in your area and participating. Just look up art bras on the internet and you'll see some fabulous designs. My daughter made the bra above and donated it last night. I think it is beautiful. I brought mine home to finish and I'll put up a picture after it's done.
It just takes a little imagination, some glue, trim and thread to make a huge donation to this worthy cause.

Lots of rain,lots of fun

The Fourth of July weekend turned out to be rainy but fun. We needed the showers and it didn't slow things down very much at all. The nieces and nephews swam in the rain. And, they didn't pick the swimming pool-they picked the tank. The girls waded in slowly, their hair put neatly up, gently stepping through the mucky bottom.

The boys took turns diving  and pushing each other off the small boat and covering themselves with mud.

20 something year old Handsome continued grazing in the yard-no matter how many times they led him back out into the pasture. He liked the short, mowed lawn. And he didn't mind eating in the rain.

Tank (originally Tiny Tank, but he's not tiny anymore) didn't particularly like sitting in the rain but he was sweet enough to endure it---just to keep us company.

The sun didn't come out all day Saturday. The rain alternated between slow, gentle showers (great for the plants) and hard, flood-producing downpours (great for filling up the tank and creeks). There also was a breeze so the temperature stayed low enough for me to get a little chilled taking pictures of the outdoor activities. Sunday morning though, is starting out still and humid, with the sun breaking through a bit. Later, there will be the Volunteer Fire dept. BBQ fundraiser and then our annual Picnic at church. Sounds like a great 4th of July to me.
