My exercise update

If anyone was wondering if I kept up my exercise routine here is an update. I am now running between 3.6 and 5 miles three times per week. I also do toning exercises twice a week. On the other days I walk 4 miles. I still take Sunday off. I also reached my weight loss goal a few weeks ago. I have lost over 60 pounds. I have a new wardrobe and a new goal-maintain my current level of exercise and my current weight. I will keep you posted so I hope you check back in.

Granny's Green Shake

My Mother likes to make a shake out of vegetables and fruit. She goes outside and picks fresh ingredients from her little garden area and adds edible native plants. Then she peels and cores an apple or peels an orange and blends it all together. This is a picture of my first shake. I used lettuce and kale from my porch garden and added an apple. I blended that with enough water to make a pint. I drank half in the morning and half in the evening. It is a good way to drink enough water for the day and get a few servings of vegetables and fruit at the same time. You can make enough for a pitcher and keep it in the fridge. I am trying to make it may new habbit. Does anyone else do this? Any suggestions?

Am I too old?.....

Jillian Michaels: 30 Day Shred [DVD]

I did level one last week. Level one, modified version (easy). I had to modify it more, and stop and rest while the instructors continued. I was very sore for 2 days. This morning, I'm giving it another try. I really want to tone up and walking has been unappealing because of the heat. Level One is a 20 minute circuit of exercises that features cardio and strength training-wish me luck!
It is supposed to be 103 degrees this afternoon, and you know where I'll be....resting my sore muscles in a cool pool.

Mike's power muffins

We are trying to lower our cholesterol. That means an improvement in our diet. Mike has been making these muffins, he calls them "power muffins", and eating 2 every morning for breakfast. I have been eating 1 because I am afraid of what my stomach would feel like after 2. He doesn't use a recipe but some of the ingredients that he incorporates are: bananas, raisins, oat flour, oat bran, flax seed, spelt, wheat germ,  agave or stevia, sweet potatoes or carrots, apple, applesauce and spices. I like to have a spoon of organic, natural peanut butter and a tall glass of skim milk with mine. They are packed with fiber and are very delicious. In a couple of months, maybe we will see some results...lower cholesterol.
