This little family of snowmen decorate one of our shelves for Christmas. My daughter made all four. They have a lot of personality, don't they? Look at the one on the right. Her beautiful ponytail cascades over her shoulder as she sweetly gazes down upon Mr. Santa Bear.
The large one in the middle stands there, very sophisticated because he knows he was made by the "older" artist. Ky had gained a lot of experience and technique by then, making him entirely from paper mache. The tall one with the jaunty hat is not jealous. He is special too, made at a church event.
This little guy is one of the oldest, made by the artist when she was a second grader. Look at his shiny green eye. The other eye is missing but still twinkles from tiny drop of dried glue. The little body is a painted baby food jar that used to contain hot cocoa mix.
This picture is the perfect background. Of course, you can tell that she had not yet developed a love for Santa Claus. Don't worry, she spent a total of 5 seconds on his lap, just enough time for her to start to cry. I love that the photographer snapped the picture quickly, before I even knew it, and didn't torture her by trying to get her to smile. I also love that my son sat there, not scared just patient, with his little hands folded. That is very precious to me.
I had all the squares cut already and the sun was bright through the windows in my sunroom, and the quilt went together quickly.
I finished it by tying the middle of the squares and each corner of the squares with brown embroidery thread.
And because it is Texas after all, I made sure the red print reflected that fact with these little cowboy hats. I had such a peaceful morning, sitting in the sun and sewing this gift for little baby Aidan.
Here is my nephew's pit bull puppy "King". Remember him from my post on 12-14-08? He has tripled in size. He is dark black, but is covered with dust here after playing with Ace. I used the Auto setting for this picture. This is the one Mike will always use.
This was taken with the portait setting. I thought the sunshine looked very pretty on the angel statue and green leaves.
This was the first time I've had the opportunity to use a Macro setting. It looks like I used the editing options to make this too dark. I like it but it is a little dark-I'm off to practice some more!Then I need to teach Mike how to use his camera.
This is a pretty creamy pink skirt with pink flowers on it that she made from a pattern.
I'm wearing a Christmas gift from my sister-can you see it? Can you? It is an apron covered with green leaves and yellow parrots and she made it herself. She made all the women one. Actually she made all the men one, too. She also gave the men a BBQ brush and BBQ sauce-hint, hint. It might not be bright outside, but just look at me inside!
